Frustrated

I think I sucked at conducting la.

I'm defacing the music.
I'm confusing people
It's time to do some corrective surgery on my hands and my brains...

Must weave singers and music together to form a technicolour dreamcoat, which God would be proud of, to dress His people so as to comfort, to encourage, to empower, and to fortify.

Ah, that'll take time. A lot of time. A lot of grace.
May His grace be upon us, my church choir.

Alternatively, get someone more qualified than me, God.

Log

On Monday, went to the Durian to watch VJC choir perform with Nat, KL, cK and many more other juniors. They performed some Eric Whitacre's compositions like Cloudburst, one of the Three Flowers Song - Lily, Kalla Kala etc. I like Whitacre's music.. but frankly, VJ didn't impress lah. Victoria Chorale sounded better. But... ultimately, VJ still sounded better than NJchoir version 2.003.. Erm, BUT $20 a little expensive lah. Furthermore, the seat I was occupying was in Circles 2. Am v. intrigued by the way Nelson Kwei conducts.. So much confidence, so sure of himself, so rehearsed. Wonder how much I can learn from him?

Guard duty on thursday night. Was occupied with paperwork. Napped < 2 hours. Got screamed at for not filling in the paperwork correctly. Could still remember what BigHead Lim said,"You know why I scold you? Because when i say you wrong, what you tell me? 'I dun know'.. Your attitude is lousy. If you dun want to use your brain and do your job properly, then quit SAF. Why stay here?" Hell, as if I wanted to stay...

Shopping! Friday! Damn, shux and benghee couldn't make it. Suppose to get ******'s present but am alone. Got distracted by bossini, bought a polo tee for myself. Haha. Met amanda. Bragged to shux I'm a gd shopper. Am I? Haha.. Edmund stayed at home, so ate dinner myself, fried noodles with egg and cheese from taka food court. Walked some more. Home. Watched Butterfly Effect (starring Ashton Kutcher) on my PC. Super cool. 4.5 stars out of 5. Go get'it.

Woke up at 10. Benghee woke up later. Shux was up since 7. I was in town at 12.21pm. Met Benghee in Orchard Lib at 1.10pm. Shux came along after 2pm. Walked till dropped and finally settled on a bag. Pink bag for ******. Watched Amityville Horror. Lousy. 0.2 stars out of 5. Please don't watch. Puhlease.... Dun waste your $ unless you are richer than Bill Gates. Go find the original movie lah, it's scarier. BengHee's a gentleman. Shux's a funny girl.

Man U lost 5-4 on penalties to Arsenal. Yay, revolution gonna take place in Old Trafford.

It's great to be single, isn't it? Lots of freedom and stuff.. Cham lah, I'm probably addicted to being single and unavailable?

Sister's really addicted to computer. But what does she do with it? MSN + Friendster + Lots of Wang Xing Lin songs = boring boring hours on the computer. Yet, I find her very amused. Weird. Gonna go through English with her tomorrow.

Mom tends to become very impatient and grumpy these days, especially after her nap or after she just wakes up. Does all woman age to become like that? Like mom best when she's happy. Still remembered Mom asking me to take pictures of my own face every week so as to keep track whether there are any minute improvement to the blemishes on my face. Haha. Den was telling shux how SL seems to always bump into model agency's agents and why wasn't I approached cuz I would make a good model for those BEFORE ads.

It was vv funny to watch MichYeo in the cinema watching a horror film The way she reacts to each scene was as if Amityville Horror was a 10 out of 10 star horror! HAha.

Church tomorrow. Yawn. Sleep already. Nite.

Last week

Over the week, I realised I haven't been too responsible towards my own growth as a Christian. It is appalling to realise that I'm falling asleep during sermon for 2 consecutive weeks! My goodness, I don't really know what's happening to me or the speakers at the pulpit. But on the safer side, let's just say that the problem probably lies with me.

Woke up at 9.30am on Saturday. Slept at 2+am the previous night. Called to wake up Xiao Yan Zi who was still sleeping. Went back to NJ to play soccer with the usual soccer guys. Tried to be flamboyant and almost fell to death on the court~ (Guess it's not so easy emulating the characters on PS2's soccer games) It happened to be College Day as well so choir was performing, only had a brief exchange of words with Ms Lim. Was suppose to have dinner with Justin and Joel that night but somehow, Joel remained uncontactable and so we had to postpone the dinner, what a disappointment! My mood was eventually saved by going out to have dinner with a gigantic group of juniors ranging from yr3s to yr 1s. Met HonSeng, Huacheng, Shaun, ShaoRu, XiaoWei, Huishan, Shuen.. The latter 3 whom i did not have dinner with. And then I'm going to so kill CK and felicia for bubbling rubbish when siewpeng was around..(Thanks ar you two..). 20 of us then went to Orchard to eat.. we intended to go to Crystal Jade *Small Dragon Bun* at Scotts but queue too long thus ended up at Takashimaya. Met Wenyang and YuDa at different locations. Ok, the the group split up, some eating Mac's, some KFC, some Delifrance, some from Taka's food court. After dinner, CherylZ suggested going to the Bluelights place behind the Irish Pub but we never made it there because of the terrible terrible lightnings overhead. In the end, we got stranded at one of the exits of Somerset MRT station and began to sing; Lots of craps that never got close to proper harmonising quality and I have to thank those strangers who were stranded with us, who did not attempt to chase us away with their shoes or handbags. Am very fascinated by MichYeo's polaroid camera, contemplating to buy one next month *hinthint* What's happening next month? Hmmm....

Then on Friday night, I went shopping for a bag. Bought one from RE.. half canvas- half leather sling bag.. Cool. Was so happy after I bought it until Edmund claimed it reminds him of SAF's duffel bag.. ARGH~ Nvm, I still love it. Bought it from Heerens. Xiao Yan Zi, Mich and Serene were having dinner within only 100m away from Edmund and me at Wheelock's NYDC la. So paid MichYeo the $60 upfront.. Still waiting for CK and Kanglie to pay me back the money for their VJChoir concert tix.

I hate to command my men when i believe they can manage themselves and I absolutely hate other people interfering my work when i'm in charge. I hate people who thinks because they finish A levels, they have the rights to declare ITC/ITE graduates-or-not as irresponsible and lazy as a whole, without even trying to KNOW them. I hate it when people think they know better when they don't. And I hate the fact that SAF is producing more commanders than leaders in the Force. I pretty much sympathise with my men and could not understand why my compatriates who were once under oppresion from our commanders could so fast forget the unfairness which they suffered, and using the same partiality to treat our subordinates. It irked me to find out that my compatriates view my empathy as a weakness. GAAAAH~! 10 more months to get away from them.

Go look for FOM at amk tomorrow. Den maybe zip down to HollandV to eat with the junior altos. Or go shopping for my trousers?

Birthday coming.. really wished an MP3 player can drop down from the sky, and onto my lap~

Crazy fun, crazy love for music

My goodness. The whole syf experience still feels so surreal even after I've experienced it twice. The general "sense of loss" and "aimlessness" became the greatest bane to my daily routine. I feel so lazy all the time, unless either Sunset, Mikyoor Sleep goes through my head. And I realised how much choral music I'm deprived of.. I seriously miss all the drilling sessions, the sectionals of each sections, working with my 2 different SCs, meetings with my comm members (I was impressed that the juniors used conference call, I was quite prehistoric la. Only physical meetings. Sigh), standing in LT1, 2, 3, 4, 5, stadium, Linkway, former-Sanctuary, Oasis, behind Parade Square, Atrium, podium, bus-stops, toilets to sing with all my choir friends... Crazy fun, crazy love for music.

GOLD~! The proud tradition lives...

Took half-day to accompany my juniors to their SYF central judging. The 5.5 days of choir frenzy has taken a toll on me.. Spending so much time with my juniors has already evoked many complex feelings and already tiring me out, not that i'm complaining. Ever since my graduation from JC, I've never felt so excited about choir until I met these bunch of juniors. They are "overall", so talented and eager to learn, it's hard for me not to take notice of them. Although Ms Lim always "scold, scold, scold" them, I still believe they can be a very good choir. There are so much effervescence of potential in them i do not see why they can't achieve what they set out to achieve, Gold with Honour, in another 2 years' time. With the right guidance, and proper discipline management, it is possible to make NJ choir an elite CCA in NJC and therefore, solve the "air-conditioning" problem once and for all...

Thank you juniors, Ms Lim and the teachers for making this short moment of my life so memorable. It isn't just meeting interesting people, it's about witnessing the bitter and sweet nature of your practices, the tough going during trainings, the love of music and the care and concern you have for one another which impressed me. And so i hope that the pictures which I've taken can be a small token in exchange for the excitement and colourful music that you've given me. All the best now for your future music development.. Join the alumni k?

(Everyone went Marché to have dinner that night and Nat and I were the last to arrive. Had Rosti. Many left early. Left BengHee, CherylZ, Suxian and me at Coffee Bean, talking, joking, laughing, stoning and crappin...)

Haha.. To clarify.. Yewzi is pronounced "You4 Zi3", which means Pomelo, a citric fruit.

I've uploaded many pictures up in my photoblog.. click the link at the top of the PAGE!!

NJChoir on Saturday morning

Sheesh! Was late.. Reached LT5 at 7-plus. By the time I entered the lecture theatre, the choir was already warming up.
Ms Lim seemed very happy to have me back and insisted that I come today.. Ok. I love choral music anyway, so there was no way I could reject my benefactor and deny my passion for music right? And here I am...
We are doing Sleep today. A song easily identified as this choir's signature piece with its soothing tunes and orchestric nature. Badly performed though. And then this stupid stupid imagination of mine got the whole choir "wooo" and "awww"..: Imagine a gosling trying its first attempt to fly and after failing twice, manage to lift off just over a cliff........... And this happens to be the most exciting part of the music. Ms Lim loved this comparison, absolutely. Me too, I guess. I have to thank God.. It just occured to me and its really apt, right juniors? Haha..

Pics of the choir taken that day.. "A change from the maternity dress..." was one of their sentiments.. Haha. To think I was very proud of the dress the ladies in my batch were wearing. Hmph!
